How to make great sweet baked beans – I grew up loving them. Last time, I was craving for baked beans I called my mother to ask for her recipe and how to make them and she patiently walked me through it over the phone.

1 1/2 Lbs. Ground Beef
1 Sm. Onion (finely chopped)
1 Red or Green Bell Pepper (finely chopped, cored & seeded)
2 (16-oz) Cns. Pork & Beans
1/2 C. Barbecue Sauce
1/2 C. Ketchup
2 Tbsp. Brown Mustard (spicy)
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
4 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
6 to 8 slices Bacon (cooked/cut into pieces)


Preheat oven 350 degrees, Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large skillet brown ground beef add onions and bell peppers. When ground beef mixture is done pour off excess grease. .

Add the pork and beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, mustard, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and brown sugar to the mixture. Simmer mixture for 5 minutes then transfer to casserole dish.

Sprinkle the bacon pieces over the top of the casserole. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40-45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Let dish sit for 10 minutes before serving.
